Thanks to this type of machine, we have the potential to make a wide variety of custom-made boxes. Moreover, all the boxes we produce are different and this is typically what our customers prefer to outsource.

WAHL Kartonagen offer box variety

Wahl Kartonagen are a well-established producer of packaging materials specialising in protection manufactured from corrugated carton and solid board, located in the town of Mainz on the Rhine in Germany.

Numerous local customers who need industrial packaging, outer corrugated cases, archive boxes, or die-cut packs, rely on the quick and efficient service provided by this small box plant.

A family owned business in its 4th generation they have a long history of local service, which started when Ernst Wahl created the company in 1915, and despite a severe downturn during the War years, the company has been able to expand and thrive over the decades.

Marc Lorenz who currently manages the business on behalf of the family, having started with them in 1991, recognised the rapidly growing market throughout Rhineland-Palatinate where traditionally industry had been based on wine growing and food production, is being supplemented by a wide base of industry - much of which requires a variety of box sizes and box styles.

It is to this customer variety that Wahl Kartonagen see their opportunity for expansion and after a major appraisal of the equipment available, chose a BCS AutoBOX line as the answer for fast reaction to their customer’s demands.

Based upon the BCS AutoBOX, which sets itself in seconds thanks to servo motors and a simple touch screen, the line includes a MultiCUT module for extra cutting and creasing enabling all sorts of extra box style, plus windows in the side of the box, die-cut hand-holes and much more. Another module selected was an in-line printer the FlexoPRINT which will allow them one colour flexographic printing with formats up to 990mm wide and 1105mm down the board.

With the above equipment Marc Lorenz and Wahl Kartonagen expect to be able to deliver small corrugated cases up to pallet-boxes, printed, and all manufactured in one quick easy pass. This they say will place them in a strong position for the future, well positioned to strengthen their existing client base and well placed to develop new customer relationships.
