Thanks to this type of machine, we have the potential to make a wide variety of custom-made boxes. Moreover, all the boxes we produce are different and this is typically what our customers prefer to outsource.

Lyan Packaging Supplies invest in Autobox On-Demand box making machinery

Lyan Packaging has been established in Wrexham, North Wales, for over 30 years. An independent family run company they supply customers across the UK with a wide range of both stock and bespoke packaging products. As part of their planned growth Lyan have made a significant investment in Autobox short-run box making equipment. Together with extended warehouse facilities they are able to provide a fast and flexible on-demand box-making service.

Adam Jones, Managing Director of Lyan Packaging said: “We offer an excellent service here at Lyan with no job too small. We take each enquiry as seriously as the next; whether 20, 200 or 2,000 boxes are required, we are always willing to help”.

Adam continued: “We recognised growth in the sector for the supply of on-demand boxes in short to medium quantities. We chose to install the new Autobox machine because the fast changeover and wide size range meant that we could offer further enhanced just-in-time services. When we were making our purchasing decision we visited the Autobox factory. Something which stood out was that they offered a business model unlike their competitors. It is a modular system which can be added to as business grows, and at a competitive price.”

Arran Sethi, Sales Manager for Autobox, comments; “The Autobox will instantly more than double Lyan’s product portfolio, without needing to stock. Their lead time on volumes from one to 1000, and plain boxes, will be reduced significantly by having this in-house ability. Importantly they have cut out the middle-man margin by eliminating the need to buy this work in”.

Arran continued: “We know the strengths of our machinery and just as importantly, we know our limitations. Lyan’s business plan of having many jobs of small-medium quantities is perfect for the Autobox concept. Within their first few days of operation Lyan were setting and running a batch of 350 boxes in 30 minutes using just one operator.

There is certainly a growing awareness of the Autobox’s new features. It’s well known that Autobox machines can be set up in less than 60 seconds but the size range is up to Jumbo 6000 L triple wall, from a 300mm x 100mm bit of E flute. All with or without print (Flexo or Digital), automated or not.”
